Horror-themed death metal act Morgue Terror returns with their second EP Violent and Murderous Thoughts, chronicling the atrocities of four sadistic serial killers and a debauched, abusive sect. Scheduled for 23 August, the EP is their first release to have an actual drummer, with Dustin Klimek (ex-Full of Hell) behind the kit. The only single, “Neanderthal,” features Chaney Crabb of Entheos on guest vocals. Formed in 2023 by Dave (guitar) and Steve (bass, vocals), Morgue Terror hails from the cold, snowy city of Buffalo, New York. Vowed to create something fresh, Morgue Terror drifts through different layers of death metal, from old school to brutal, and the dissonant voids in between. The band’s moniker is derived from a pivotal scene at the end of the first Terrifier (2016) movie when Art the Clown, the main antagonist of the franchise, emerges from a body bag, delivering a fatal blow to the coroner. Art the Clown and the Terrifier franchise left an indelible mark on Morgue Terror and their music. This thematic inspiration extends to their self-titled EP (released in January 2024), which delves into the murders and characters portrayed in the first two Terrifier movies, featuring cover art depicting the notorious clown himself. Dustin joined the duo of Dave and Steve in November 2023, upon hearing “Chopped Up Chum,” the first single off the debut EP. As a trio, Morgue Terror started playing live and recorded their sophomore EP, Violent and Murderous Thoughts. The tracks on Violent and Murderous Thoughts emphasize groove over speed, showcasing a more collaborative and organic effort from a band determined to bludgeon and brutalize. Lyrically scarred by the cult of the Alamo Christian Foundation and grotesque serial killers — the Chessboard Killer, Yang Xinhai, Carl Panzram, and Aileen Wuornos — the songs grip the audience by the throat, offering no escape from the horrors within. Currently a four-piece, with Kevin on bass duties, Morgue Terror is working on their debut full-length. Having already played with death metal legends Internal Suffering in their short history, the horror-raising death metal quartet will share the stage with Internal Bleeding and Stabbed on 10 August. They have gigs scheduled in Buffalo, Rochester, and neighboring areas, with plans to reach parts of the Midwest, the Northeast, and possibly southern Ontario, Canada. Track Listing:1. Chessmaster2.
